Mayor Riggle's Glorious Goodies

Description

This gamified ad experience was created to raise awareness of Harrah’s Southern California resort.

Goals

Create a simple, easy to pick up and play game suitable for a 30 second ad spot.

Incorporate Harrah’s mascots, Mayor Rob Riggle and Albert the alpaca.

Incorporate items from the Harrah’s signature dessert menu, including a powerup item.

Game should increase in difficulty as it progresses.

Challenges

Designing gameplay that would meet client expectations, while also adhering to the overall scope of the project (i.e. it’s a game in a 30 sec ad slot.)

Finding a meaningful way to include both of the companies mascots into the game.

Resolutions

Decided on a simple dessert dropping game, where users attempt to click the desserts, while avoiding fruits and vegetables. As desserts are collected, dessert/vegetable falling speed increases along with the frequency in which desserts/vegetables drop.

Rob Riggle sits on his throne at the right holding a chalice, which will light up when a certain number of desserts are collected. Clicking the chalice will launch a powerful screen clearing move, automatically collecting all desserts on screen and destroying all fruits and vegetables.

Albert the alpaca slides in periodically to steal desserts falling near the edge of the screen. Users must act fast or they will miss out on those points!
